Notes on the conversions
Gallons are not gallons
A US gallon is 3.785 litres and an imperial gallon is 4.546 — about 20% apart. Both are listed separately for application rates and volumes, because reading an American rate chart with imperial gallons in mind is a real and expensive mistake.
Bushels depend on the crop
A bushel is a volume that the grain trade pinned to a weight, and that weight differs by crop: 60 lb for wheat and soybeans, 56 for corn, 48 for barley, 32 for oats. Choose the crop and the yield conversion follows. These are trade standards, not the test weight of your particular load.
Tons are not tons either
A tonne is 1,000 kg, a US short ton is 907 kg, and a UK long ton is 1,016 kg. All three are listed under weight so there is no ambiguity about which one a figure refers to.
Rounding
Each unit is shown at a precision that suits it — hectares to three decimals, square metres to none. The underlying conversion is done at full precision, so rounding only affects what you read, not what is calculated.
Conversions use standard factors and nothing you type is sent anywhere. Where money, a contract or a chemical label depends on the number, check it against the figures on the label or docket rather than a general-purpose converter.
